Poster Competition 2026

The Narrogin Agricultural Society invites artists of all ages and abilities to take part in the 2026 Poster Competition and showcase their creativity to the wider community.

This year’s theme, “Tracks, Trains and Traditions,” celebrates Narrogin’s rich railway heritage and strong agricultural roots. Participants are encouraged to explore the connection between past and present through creative and visually engaging designs that capture the spirit of the Show.

The winning entries will be featured in the official promotion of the Narrogin Agricultural Show. Two winners will be selected — one Junior (under 18) and one Senior (18+) — with cash prizes awarded and an invitation to attend the official opening of the Show.

Whether you are an experienced artist or simply enjoy being creative, this is a great opportunity to contribute to a well-loved community event and have your work recognised.

All Aboard for the 2026 Narrogin Agricultural Society Quiz Night!

Get your team together and prepare for an unforgettable evening of trivia, laughter and community spirit at the Narrogin Agricultural Society Quiz Night 2026.

This year’s exciting theme, “Trains, Tracks & Traditions,” celebrates Narrogin’s proud railway heritage through a night of themed questions, local history, general knowledge and plenty of surprises along the way. Whether you’re a railway enthusiast, a trivia champion or simply looking for a fantastic night out with friends, there’s something for everyone.

Enjoy a fun-filled evening featuring:

  • Great prizes
  • Exciting raffles
  • Local fun and friendly competition

Book a table with your family, friends, work colleagues or sporting club and see if your team has what it takes to be crowned the 2026 Quiz Night champions.

2026 Writing Competitions

2026 Writing Competitions

The Narrogin Agricultural Show invites local writers of all ages to take part in our 2026 Writing Competitions. Whether you enjoy writing poetry, sharing true stories or putting a creative twist on a favourite song, this is your chance to celebrate the rich railway history and traditions of our region.

Entries close: Sunday, 13 September 2026

Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to people who live within 50 km of Narrogin in the following divisions:

  • Primary School
  • High School
  • Adults

Categories

Poetry

Write an original poem inspired by trains, railways or anything related to this year’s theme, Trains, Tracks and Traditions.

Entry Requirements

  • Maximum one A4 page.
  • Typed or neatly handwritten.
  • May be illustrated if desired.
  • Include a title.
  • Do not include your name on the poem (your details are provided on the application form).
  • Entries must be the entrant’s own original work. AI-generated content is not permitted.

Short Story

Share a true story about trains or railways.

Possible topics include:

  • A memorable train journey
  • Railway history in Narrogin
  • Visiting a railway museum
  • Family railway memories
  • Why trains should return
  • Any true experience connected with railways

  • Maximum two A4 pages.
  • Typed or neatly handwritten.
  • May be illustrated if desired.
  • Include a title.
  • Do not include your name on the story.
  • Entries must be the entrant’s own original work. AI-generated content is not permitted.

Rewrite the Lyrics of a Song

Rewrite the lyrics of any well-known song using a train or railway theme.

For example:

  • Rewrite the lyrics of Frozen using train-related themes.
  • Create your own version of an existing railway song.

Entry Requirements

  • Maximum one A4 page.
  • Typed or neatly handwritten.
  • Include the original song title and artist/composer, together with your new title.
  • Do not include your name on the entry.
  • Entries must be your own original adaptation. AI-generated content is not permitted.

General Conditions

All entries must:

  • Be the entrant’s own original work.
  • Not contain AI-generated content.
  • Be neatly presented.
  • Be submitted with a completed application form.
  • Be received by Sunday, 13 September 2026.

Judges reserve the right to verify originality.


Judging

Entries will be judged on:

  • Creativity and originality
  • Relevance to the theme
  • Presentation
  • Spelling and grammar
  • Compliance with the competition guidelines

Judges will be announced closer to the competition.


Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for First Place in each category in each division:

  • Primary School
  • High School
  • Adults

The Writing Competitions are proudly supported by proceeds from the Trains, Tracks and Traditions Quiz Night.

Place your entry in a plastic sleeve with the Completed Application Form attached and deliver it to Dorcas on:

Important Information

  • Only individual entries will be accepted.
  • Group entries are not eligible.
  • Entries may be submitted by email or delivered in person.

Trains and Tracks Around Narrogin

Trains and Tracks Around Narrogin

The Narrogin Agricultural Show Committee is inviting residents, businesses and schools to get creative and help fill Narrogin with trains in celebration of the 2026 Show theme, Trains, Tracks and Traditions.

This year, the popular community display will include three competition categories:

  • Private Residences
  • Businesses
  • Schools

Schools have participated in previous years, but for 2026 they will have their own competition category and prize.

Your Challenge

Create your own 3D train or train-inspired artwork and display it where it can be clearly seen from outside your home, business, school or garden.

Your creation can be made from almost anything, including:

  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Fabric
  • Cardboard
  • Recycled materials
  • Any other suitable materials

Entries can be fun, colourful, traditional, imaginative or inspired by Narrogin’s railway history. The aim is to create a display that the whole community can enjoy.

How to Enter

Once your train display is complete:

  1. Take a clear photograph of your creation.
  2. Complete the online entry form.
  3. Provide your name, full display address and a photograph of your entry.

Submit your Online Entry Form together with the image of your artwork.

Please ensure your display is visible from a public area so it can be viewed during judging.

Prizes

A prize of $100 will be awarded to the first-place entry in each category:

  • Private Residence – $100
  • Business – $100
  • School – $100

Key Dates

Entries close: Sunday, 27 September 2026

The Narrogin Agricultural Show Committee will judge all eligible entries.

Winners announced: Sunday, 11 October 2026 on the Narrogin Agricultural Show Facebook page

The winners will also be recognised at the Narrogin Agricultural Show on Saturday, 17 October 2026.
